So I know travel isn’t my lane but when I do travel I try to go to cool & different places to eat. One place I have grown to love over the last year is L.A. and I have vowed to myself to visit at least once a year. This year I visited L.A. for Labor Day weekend and I literally ate my way through the city. I’m going to give you guys the deets on a couple of my favorite places, and one place I DID NOT get any pictures of (SMH), but it was the BEST taco spot I found off of Venice Beach. Just trust me!
I learned about this black owned restaurant from my two of my blogger homies and they had nothing but good things to say about this place. The one thing I remember them talking about was the Ox-Tail Tacos so you know I had to try that and it was great! I also ordered the Macaroni and Cheese Soul Rolls, and if you know me you really shouldn’t be surprised that I ordered them. They were also amazing! My girlfriend ordered the Seafood Gumbo with Vegan Andouille Sausage, and she loved it! This place was giving me Hillman College bookstore/café vibez!
I’m not going to lie I had nothing to do with finding this place. When I’m on vacation sometimes I’m just told to be ready by a certain time in the morning, and I just assume I’m going to eat a good ass breakfast. I was definitely not disappointed when I arrived. Now everything, I mean EVERYTHING is sold A-La-Carte which can make it costly but overall I think its worth it. I believe they are known for their oatmeal griddle cakes so you know I had to try one! They do not have a bar so do not expect to get lit here (lol), however it is a great way to start your day right in the heart of WeHo (West Hollywood).
I’ve always heard about Berri’s Pizza and there infamous Lobster Pizza. So that is exactly what I ordered, and I enjoyed every slice! However, it is more shrimp than lobster (side eye lol)! Either way it was great, and I would more than likely order it again.
Sometimes you have to go out of the way for a good rooftop brunch! We lucked up with this one, it was busy and we could quickly tell when we arrived the rooftop area was popular. However, we still managed to get a table, as the rooftop area was also open seating. This place is a bit pricey if you want to drink, however the food prices are pretty average. If you want a single mimosa it can be either $9 or $12 depending on the champagne you choose. However, if you’re like me and you want more than one you can get the Mimosa Tray which comes with 3 seasonal juices, fresh assorted berries with your bottle choice starting at $43 (yes pricey lol). This place was cute in the heart of Belmont Shore surrounded by many shops, and restaurants!
Better than Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Don’t debate me! Periodt. Any time I’m in L.A. you better believe I’m going to always slide through Honey Kettle! This last time they did not have the Blueberry Mint Lemonade (sad face), and it would have taken them like 30 minutes to prepare there Blueberry Biscuits (ugly cry face). However, the chicken (the most important thing!) was great as always. Also the Ice Shaker Lemonade is just as good as the Blueberry Mint, and don’t forget the honey drip for your chicken especially if you order the spicy wings.
This place was the first place we decided dine at when we arrived to L.A. and probably the cheapest place (yes Honey Kettle can get pricey). This is by far the best Korean BBQ restaurant I have ever been to. It was very busy and the wait was about 30 minutes however, they do move quickly to get you in and out once you’re seated. Its an all you can eat style with the meats and the sides, also you order up to 3 different meats at a time. It is 27.99 per person for dinner and 25.99 per person for lunch. They also have regular Soju, flavored Soju, Cold Sake, Beer, and Korean wine if you’re trying to get lit. This place is in the middle of Korea Town so its many other restaurants around, but this one had people waiting outside so we knew it was going to be great!
I hope you guys loved my little food guide! I also linked the websites to these places in the title for ya! If you decide to go to any of these places while you’re visiting L.A. make sure you tag me! Oh and before I forget please make is a point to stop by Teddy’s Red Tacos off of Venice Beach they specialize in Beef Birria Tacos and it is amazinngggggg!!! I did not get any pictures and I’m still mad at myself for that, but just trust me guys you will love it! They also have one off of Slauson Ave. but Venice has a better view 😉
