Okay so I guys I had the pleasure of being the official blogger of the 2nd Annual Black Food Truck Festival hosted by the Black List Association. It was probably the biggest highlight of this year thus far for #BrunchinWithGelle.
This food truck festival featured some of Houston’s best black owned businesses and also showcased a few talented artists which was dope as well! The Marcus Garvey Market was almost overwhelming you guys. Their were so many options from skin care, to clothing, and of course promoting healthy lifestyles. It was amazing to see such creativity, I don’t believe we (and others) give ourselves enough credit!
The atmosphere of this festival was so family-oriented. You were told to bring lawn chairs as if you were going to a family cook-out! I loved that! The lines for the food trucks and vendors were not long which made it seem like such a easy breeze to try your favorite black owned business.
Now lets get right to it!
If you know me you know that I can eat gumbo in any weather, or season it doesn’t matter. So when I saw GumboXpress was going to be at the festival I immediately knew the first thing I was going to try!

Perfect roux, and perfect seasoning! The saltine crackers fed my inner country soul!
Ever heard of Cajun Tex-Mex? Yeah, me either until I ran into EaDeaux’s Cajun Cocina! They have everything from Boudin Nachos, Gumbo Nachos, Andouille and Charro Beans which they compared to Red Beans, and Rice. I tried the Crawfish Nachos, and oh my goodness it was amazing! Imagine Crawfish Ettoufee over a bed of crisp tortilla chips with queso, shredded cheeses, pico, cilantro and jalapenos! It’ll make your taste buds go crazy!

I had to go to my car and eat this in peace lol. The way the heat was disrespecting me…smh.
Lastly of course I could not leave without getting an adult beverage. So I stopped by Sipster and had a ‘Henny White Peach Strawberry Lemonade’. So refreshing with fresh peaches and strawberries! Oh and this drink was made just right! 😉
Just in case you want to try the places I went to I listed their websites below:
If you missed out on this event then you missed a really good time! Much appreciation to the Black List Association for inviting me out and sharing their amazing moment with me! See y’all next year!
-Xoxo Gelle
